Get It Right

The following is a pet peeve of mine. Everyone tends to misuse the word antisocial, in fact most of the people who are described as antisocial probably aren't. There are three types of social: prosocial, asocial and antisocial. Prosocial people have a positive behaviour towards others, like helping others and doing good deeds. Asocial people are those who generally keep to themselves and don't really find the need to engage in activities with others. Antisocial people are hostile, aggressive and inflict harm on others. These people usually act deviant and break social norms while harming others without feeling remorse for their actions.

So, next time someone calls you antisocial because you happen to like to keep to yourself and don't really feel the need to interact with others all the time tell them they're wrong! You are asocial not antisocial.
