Why Is This Acceptable?

The downtown Toronto hipster scene is one which I despise greatly, yet am constantly bombarded with courtesy of a few of my friends caught up in said scene and being downtown all the time.

There is a photo of me with one of my friends on Facebook and this guy just commented on it about 5 minutes ago and he said, "man i'd look like that other female if i had longer hair and was a tad bit girlier." In this photo I am just wearing jeans and a black sweater which is a universal look for people who don't really care enough about what they wear to make an effort.

However, I am making a point much larger than trying to defend myself and my girlishness. Why in the world is it attractive for a guy to wear girl clothes, or if not girl clothes then guy clothes designed to look like girl clothes? There is nothing more unattractive than seeing a guy on the street in the tightest jeans possible wearing an American Apparel Deep-V. This phenomenon is completely and utterly beyond my grasp, is it too much to ask for guys to just look like guys?
