Musical ADD

I didn't coin the term. I think it was someone else I was staying with this weekend but I think it really describes this new phenomenon that I've discovered. I was staying with my best friend and some of my friends back from high school for homecoming and 4 or 5 grade 12 guys were also visiting. I didn't have much in common with these people so thus instead of joining in their fun, I would just analyze what they did.

So once the pre-drinking commenced immediately the guys put on music, but not good music [and i can say that without sounding pretentious because anyone who is even remotely devoted to music thinks it is crap]. It's the music that they play in the popular mainstream clubs but that you also hear on the radio (especially the techno stations). The thing about the guys and even the girls who enjoyed the music was that they never played the WHOLE song. There would be about 3 people standing around the Ipod trying to change it to the song that they think everyone will love, this is why I only heard about 40 seconds of each song. They would put the song on, start screaming and saying, "Oh man yoo, I love this song!!", then start dancing and then the song has changed and they repeat the process over and over and over again.
It drove me nuts, but that's not the end.

As if I didn't have enough of the dance parties at home we all ended up somehow going to this club called Elixer where much to my dismay, they did the exact same thing with the exact same kind of music! I just about died. So I figure it's not just unique to the people I was staying with, it's a social phenomenon. People have the attention spans of two year olds. They can't concentrate on one thing for too long without getting bored, they need constant changing stimulation to keep their attention. That's sad.

So this weekend I probably listened to hundreds of songs, yet it was never the whole song.
