Today I went with a friend to the mall and while we were having coffee we got to talking about journals and how much we loved writing in them. This prompted my friend to decide she was going to buy a new journal from Chapters. You wouldn't think the purchase of a journal is a big deal but i'm pretty sure we spent half an hour (or more) deciding which journal was worthy of our thoughts. Here are a few things we had to take into consideration:
1) We are no longer immature in the sense that we don't want our journals to have owls or barbies on them, etc. They had to represent who we were at the current time while also being classic.
2) It had to be the proper size, nothing too large and nothing too small.
3) The pages had to have clear lines, a place for the date and the page had to be very neat and plain.
4) Some sort of closing/locking device was good. However, we were skeptical about locks as half the time they are just annoying and don't really work.
5) We were not interested in the journals with the ringed spines.
The thing about shopping with my friend is that she is so indecisive, especially when it comes to journals for some reason, and the only way we got through the whole process was because I was there to coax her along, saying things like, "wtf, Iana. are you twelve?" and "That's the ugliest thing ever." Believe you me, sometimes people just need a push. Anyways, she ended up getting a red journal and on the packaging it said, "The Notebook that Hemingway and Picasso used" (or something to that effect). As of currently I do not need a new journal but I can't wait till I do, I know exactly which one I'm going to get.
